The Challenge

The Owner Client required 5 new tanks to be built. The project required extensive abrasive blasting within an operating facility. Traditional dry blasting methods would create significant dust, posing a risk to neighboring trades and requiring extensive, costly containment systems and scaffolding. The client needed a solution that would minimize disruption, enhance safety, and be cost-effective.

The Solution

Norpoint proposed and utilized a combination of wet abrasive blast equipment with a specialized automated crawling technology called the Verti-Drive system. This innovative approach allowed us to perform the necessary blasting while suppressing dust at the source. The magnetic crawler was attached directly to the tank surface, eliminating the need for complex and time-consuming scaffolding and manlifts, which minimized congestion in the tank containment area.

The Results

By employing the Verti-Drive system and wet blasting, Norpoint successfully mitigated dust in the operating facility, ensuring a safer work environment for all trades. The automated crawling technology significantly reduced the need for manpower and complex access equipment, resulting in a more efficient and productive project timeline.
