In a recent project, Norpoint was tasked with the external abrasive blasting and coating of 17 High Pressure MLBV (Main Line Block Valve) assemblies for a gas transmission line. The scope of work required the valves, sized at NPS 36" and 48", to be processed during the winter months. A significant challenge of this project was the sheer size and weight of the assemblies, with some exceeding 70,000 lbs.

The Owner Client required 5 new tanks to be built. Traditional dry blasting methods would create significant dust, posing a risk to neighboring trades and requiring extensive, costly containment systems and scaffolding. The client needed a solution that would minimize disruption, enhance safety, and be cost-effective.

A client urgently needed to reroute an existing pipeline spanning 1,000 feet of NPS36 pipe. With project deadlines looming, the arrival of fall and its cooler temperatures further increased complexity, and the cost of keeping boring crews on site made traditional shop coating impractical. To keep the project on track and minimize expenses, the application of Denso Protal 7200 liquid epoxy coating had to be carried out on site, ensuring robust protection without introducing costly delays.
